Join us to call for the release of Iranian-Canadian professor Homa Hoodfar, who has been in prison in Iran since June 6.
The Iranian Revolutionary initially arrested Dr Hoodfar in March – shortly before her scheduled return to Canada – and rearrested her on June 6th. She continues to be held in Tehran’s Evin Prison, without access to her family and likely without medication she needs to treat a rare neurological disease. A recent Amnesty International report raised concerns about access to health care and medication in Evin prison. Women face additional barriers to getting medical care because nearly all the prison medical staff are men.
Information leaked to Iranian media suggests that Dr Hoodfar is being charged with attempting to start a feminist network of revolutionaries in Iran. Dr Hoodfar has met with her lawyer once since her arrest, but they have not had direct access to her file.
