Meet Rada Borić, a renowned international feminist, professor and peace activist, best known for creating positive change in the lives of women in her native Croatia and around the world. She is currently the Executive Director of Croatia’s Centre for Women’s Studies, where she also lectures on nonviolent communication and conflict resolution.
Rada developed her expertise on war and gender violence as a member of the Antiwar Campaign of Croatia and as Program Coordinator of the Center for Women War Victims in Zagreb during the conflicts in former Yugoslavia. This centre provided refuge and support for women fleeing violence and discrimination.
Rada co-edited the book The Suitcase – Refugee Stories From Bosnia and Croatia (California University Press, 1997). In 2012, she was elected vice-president of the European Women’s Lobby. Croatian president Ivo Josipović awarded Rada with the Order of the Croatian Pleter in 2013 for her contribution to the promotion and protection of women’s rights.
