Today was an emotional day. A thought provoking day. An exhausting day.
A day when for the first time over 120 women from the world were able to come together in one room to share thoughts on what has become a scar on many hearts and souls – sexual violence in conflict.
While discussing both protection and justice, the strength and voice of many women who were survivors of violence, were coming from a conflict-affected region, shined through – bringing us all sitting comfortably in Montebello back to reality. Stories of survival always with thanks for support – were prominent in a day when many asked: we can’t just meet for three days and then go home and do nothing – what are we going to do to make sure action happens – what action are WE going to take?
